If you think about pure spirit translated into art and Old Masters reincarnated into our crazy,modern times then what you mean is Yoann Lossel. What is striking about his art is not the gold leaf mixed with hydrangea petals and all of them mixed with graphite or oils but the feeling that you step into another universe.
In fact his entire collection is filled with a bizarre beauty that reminds me of the H.R. Giger art with the only difference that Yoann Lossel prefers the past or shall I say the mythologies of the ancient Europeans and spiritual worlds to the future horror Alien realities that filled H.R. Giger’s and made him famous.
I admire his art for many,many years and what fascinates me is that he not only evolves as an artist but it seems that his entire spirit evolves with it.

When you first look at one of his masterpieces, you can’t deny the fact that your entire Self is mesmerized to the point that it wants to jump into the scene and be part of the art piece. Not only once it happened to me to say that an image would fit perfectly a Tarot card or even better would make a great meditation exercise.

Horace used to say that “a picture is a poem without words” but in Yoann Lossel’s case they make more than a poem but entire stories of lost and forgotten lands .
“The wild hunt”
It would take a writer years to describe an image like that mainly because after you thought that you’ve seen everything in there, suddenly you find out new details that connect to previous details and make up new stories.
It is so fascinating! Is like the artist worked for at least a lifetime to make up one image when in fact his genius allowed him to finish it faster than anyone of us would think. He is one of those half- gods that bring us,the mortals, the wisdom of the superior realms. I do believe that the future generations will remember and bow to the genius of Yoann Lossel.
