When it comes to art there is one thing I noticed (well there are many but this is one of them) you cannot fail to notice that traditional painters have (almost) all the same style, they paint the same scenes, the same characters and up to a pint they are filled with cliches. You look at one and you’ve seen them all. Boring? Yes.
Now, abstract art is completely different story and i’m not talking only about pure abstract but about all those fabulous genres from Cubism to Surrealism and from Futurism to Visionary. Each and every single artist is different…which is amazing.
Many would ask me why have I picked Joseph Flores for this week’s featured artist. Well,he is among those abstract painters that create an abstraction and the viewer sees the non-abstraction so to speak. He uses massive simplification but he knows to communicate with the recipient (viewer) in a very intuitive and archetypal way.
“My passion is to create art that speaks clearly to me. That’s why I have done many styles. The passion to create beautiful art that has deeper meanings.”
– Joseph Flores
When I talked to him I noticed that he shares common ground with the Expressionists and Visionary artists in the same time.Every painting represents an emotional state of the artist, good or bad,low or high but they are personified by and through color. Sometimes, the shape is scaled down to produce the effect the artist wants on the canvas.
“There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality. “
– Pablo Picasso
“The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.”
– Pablo Picasso
It is my belief that humankind is on the verge of evolution and this expands our aesthetic appreciation and ability.I also believe that we already started to show different ways of communication that are beyond language.Art is the first sign of this kind of evolution and the fact that more and more people are able to understand what the artists are “digging” from their own “path” it means a lot. Therefore, endeavors such as those made by Joseph Flores are of the highest value.
“Through color and brush strokes, I try to show what it is that our eyes see but we don’t realize it at the time. There’s more around us than what there really is. Through our eyes we see. Through our hearts, we love. Through art, we tell a story. Through reality and the separation of it, that fine line, I try to make reality. To show what it is that our eyes have seen and what our hearts long for.” – Joseph Flores.
